handmade gift for a friend

I started making and giving my own handmade gift(s) ever since I started learning how to sew. I find joy in crafting gifts with my own hands. It is worth every smile I get in return.

This past weekend, I was invited to a friend's (also coworker) baby shower party. Of course I had to make her some handmade goodies for her soon-to-be-here baby boy.

There is baby blanket, receiving blanket, stroller blanket, and a set of burp cloths. Guess I really wanted to make sure the baby will be warm and cozy with all those blankets I made for him.

Then I wrapped them in pretty packaging.

p.s these items (or very similar) are available at my etsy shop

Updates...giveaways... and more....

Wow. I haven't been blogging in such a long time. I have been busy with my 2 Etsy shops---www.downtowngirldesigns.etsy.com and www.maxandolivia.etsy.com (the baby shop).

Things are going great for my shops. The holidays are a busy time for sure. I am busy juggling my time between my 2 etsy shops and my full-time job. And now that I am 36 weeks pregnant...things do get a bit hectic sometimes. But I always enjoy crafting and sewing, so no complains there!

I've got so many ideas for my shop and soon as I am done with custom orders, I will start crafting them to sell at my shops.

Also, I want to let you know that I'm going to start bi-weekly giveaways at my blog to start January 2009 to celebrate the birth of my soon-to-be-born baby.

Ok. Back to work now....

Just a quick note

Downtown Girl Designs will be at Dog Days in The Park hosted by my neighborhood's animal rescue club, Springfield Animal Care and Rescue Club (http://www.sacarc.org/).
This is their biggest fundraiser event and I am so excited that Downtown Girl Designs will be able to participate in it this year!!
The event is going to be on September 19, 2009 (Saturday) at Confederate Park in Springfield, Jacksonville, Florida.

Items you can expect to see at my shop during the event:
- Coin purses
- Make-up bags (medium and large)
- Make-up brushes holders
- Wrislets
- Belts
- Coasters
- Potholders
- Baby items (bibs, burp cloths, blankie tags, travel diaper bags, travel diaper changing pad, onesies)
- Wash cloths
- Crayons and colored pencil holders
- Dog leashes
- Dog collars
- Dog toys (squeaky kind)

Some of the items are my brand new creations meaning they haven't been introduced to my Etsy shop ... yet. I will, however, list some of the coasters and some medium make-up bags in a day or two on my Etsy shop. Very exciting.
